Los Girasoles Restaurant Review:

Located on the second floor of a lovely building in the historic center, the owners of this airy space gathered recipes from some of Mexico’s best women chefs to prepare their menu. While the food is quite good, you may leave with a gnawing feeling that they are trying too hard to be precious with some of the overly sweet dishes, such as the chile de la Moneda, an ancho chile stuffed with chopped pork and fruit, drowned in a walnut and sweet cream sauce. Well worth trying are the Emperor’s Salad (escarole with croutons and an only slightly sweet dressing), the cream of pistachio soup, and the spicy tamal with shrimp and salmon.
