OPENINGS

José Andrés (Oyamel Cocina Mexicana, Café Atlántico, etc.) is teaming up with SBE's Sam Nazarian to open Bazaar at the hotel SLS at Beverly Hills in November. The space will feature a raw bar, cocktail bar, a display kitchen and a 'street food' cart that will serve mingling patrons who don't feel like being tied down to tables. Bazaar, 465 S. Restaurateur Steven Arroyo, owner of Cobras & Matadors, 750 ml and Malo, has opened Church & State at the base of the Biscuit Company Lofts building. The brasserie features classics like steak frites, cassoulet and chicken paillard. Church & State, 1850 Industrial St., Los Angeles, CA 90021, no phone available yet.
 
A branch of the Beverly Hills industry favorite The Grill on the Alley has opened at The Promenade at Westlake in Westlake Village. Modeled after the big city grills of the 1930's and 40's, the restaurant features dark polished wooden booths with high backs and a long clubby bar. Expect American fare like steaks, chops and seafood, as well as classics such as chicken pot pie, crab Louie, braised short ribs, and Cobb and Caesar salad. Sushi on Sunset is back on Sunset Boulevard, though the restaurant has re-opened as Sushi on Sunset East/West Fusion. The "Asian Comfort Food" menu offers dishes like lemongrass skewered salmon drizzled with plum sauce and red rice. Sushi on Sunset East/West Fusion, 8264 W. Craft Los Angeles Craft Introduces New Nibbles
Craft Los Angeles has launched a new lounge menu that will be served nightly starting at 5 p.m. Snacks include ricotta fritters; salted cod roe and almond in a jar; and a leek, local goat's cheese and truffle pizette. On the sweeter side, guests can indulge in black and white cookies, a root beer float, or a parfait made with cream cheese gelato, blueberry compote and graham crackers. Pigskin Parties at Pink Taco
Pink Taco in Century City is all set for football season. Guests can catch their teams each week on programming that includes NFL Sunday Ticket and ESPN Game Plan and watch on one of the new HD flat screens located throughout the restaurant, bar and outdoor patio. Pink Taco opens early at 9 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday and offers a Mexican breakfast menu until 2 p.m., as well as $5 drink specials during the games and group specials for parties of 40 people or more. "Whiskey After Work" at the W
Whiskey Blue at the W Los Angeles Westwood has introduced the "Whiskey After Work" happy hour from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. The gourmet sliders and other appetizers are priced at $7, and the selection of $9 specialty cocktails includes the strawberry mojito, pomegranate margarita, and grapefruit basil martini. Beat the Brunch Rush
Snag a seat before the big game and dig in to the new brunch items now offered at Rush Street on Saturdays and Sundays. The menu includes everything from Belgian waffles with wild berry maple syrup and fresh vanilla cream to the "Red-eye" burger with carmelized onions, smoked applewood bacon, fried egg and spicy hollandaise. Food service is offered from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., with a limited menu of pizzas available from 3 p.m.-5 p.m. Rush Street, 9546 Washington Blvd., Culver City, CA 90232, 310-837-9546.
 
Mojitos & Special Menus at Xiomara
Xiomara on Melrose introduces Cubano Mondays featuring a three-course dinner menu. The family-style meal offers a mojito and a weekly changing main course, including Bistec Empanizado, thinly sliced breaded top sirloin; Pierna de Lechón Asasda, roasted leg of pork marinated Cuban-style; Bacalao a la Vizcaina, salted cod fish Vizcaya Style; and Rabo Encendido, oxtail stew in traditional Cuban sofrito. Dinners include a greens and watercress salad with green peas, cherry tomatoes, cucumber and radish in lime dressing, plus a classic flan for dessert. The Cubano Mondays menu costs $25 per person. Lunch Lay-off

CHEF SHUFFLE

Tart's new executive chef, Lauren Kyles, has introduced a newly inspired country menu that utilizes seasonal, local ingredients. Kyles creates modernized Southern dishes such as Southern fried chicken served with crispy grit cake, mustard greens, corn on the cob, and lavender honey. Tart, Farmer’s Daughter Hotel, 115 S. Omri Aflalo Michel Richard has named Omri Aflalo as the new chef de cuisine of Citrus at Social. A Culinary Institute of America graduate, Aflalo has previously worked with chefs Michael Mina and Gary Danko, and spent three years working with Michel Richard at Michel Richard Citronelle. Aflalo, who has been working as sous chef at Citrus at Social, assumes the chef de cuisine position from Rémi Lauvand. Citrus at Social, Social Hollywood, 6525 W.
