Luigino’s at Heathrow Restaurant Review: The enterprising Paulucci family (best known for patriarch Jeno founding Jeno’s Pizza and Chun King) still owns this neighborhood favorite with the ambience of a private club in spite of its location in a mini-office park and shopping plaza. Once you’re through the front door, the view onto the Heathrow Golf Course and million-dollar homes sets an upscale-yet-casual tone, with a friendly waitstaff that makes diners feel right at home. The standout pasta is the penne a la vodka, but plenty of diners go for the thick-cut steaks sizzling on giant platters. You might start with a shared order of classic bruschetta or shrimp sautéed in garlic and white wine, but don’t fill up---entrées are hearty. There are more than a dozen pasta classics on the menu, from ravioli to lasagna to spaghetti bolognese. Eggplant rollatini and veal piccata are also winners. When the weather’s nice, opt for a seat on the terrace. Luigino’s wine list has more than 100 selections, heavy on Italy and California, with many by the glass. |
