| We like Gerri Gilliland’s convivial dining room filled with colorful Mexican folk art and a bougainvillea-lined patio. We can also recommend the margaritas, especially served with fresh-made tortilla chips, tasty salsa and chunky guacamole. Chef Ricardo Villareal’s menu features popular Mexican dishes along with more unusual specialties: zucchini blossoms stuffed with Manchego and blue cheeses, lobster taquitos and blue corn griddle cakes with rock shrimp in chipotle-garlic butter sauce. If you need a stiff drink, ask to see the 175 possibility-strong tequila list. On Mexican holidays, Lula hosts all-female mariachi bands and flamenco dancers. |
