| In a former garage sleekly tarted up by a couple of Pratt Institute grads, Luz has turned Nuevo Latino cuisine on its head with exciting creations based on traditional dishes. Starting with a selection of citrusy ceviches; empanadas filled with interesting mixes such as manchego and goat cheeses, sun-dried tomatoes and spinach; and arepas with cilantro pesto sauce, the meal is rounded out with juicy Peruvian rotisserie chicken and cranberry glazed pork ribs cooked in a tender St. Louis barbecue style. Latin soups made with shellfish, saffron and sometimes coconut are served as either appetizers or main courses. A creative cocktail mix ranging from icy mojitos to warmed sangrĂa dosed with nutmeg and cinnamon accompanies cavas and wines from Spain, Argentina and other Latin countries. |
