Macchu Picchu Restaurant Review

: Filled with icons from Peru---a female mannequin dressed in traditional attire and a llama grace the entrance---this outpost of Peruvian cooking has been a hit from its first days. Owner Zoila GarcĂ­a began with an Italian menu and an occasional Peruvian special to gauge interest. Now the kitchen only cooks Peruvian fare, which can be quite spicy. The ceviche, for instance, blends squid, octopus, shrimp and mussels (pre-cooked, then marinated) with fish (marinated raw) and some major heat. Meat dishes come both mild and hot. The potato is native to Peru, but the country also enjoys rice, so don’t be surprised to see both on a plate. Desserts draw from Spanish traditions, like flan and alfajores (traditional Peruvian cookies). Skip the so-so wines and enjoy the fruity batidos (milk shakes).
