The menu at this rustic French bistro not only changes nightly, but chef Kyle Yarborough might not even have it set until mere hours before you arrive, so fresh from the farm is the cuisine. The dining room is cozy and welcoming and the bar alive with locals. Have a snack of picholine olives with tapenade, grilled bread and goat cheese or the charcuterie plate to start. Move on to Cabernet poached pear served over baby arugula with whipped smoked blue cheese, cranberries and candied pecans, a mix of textures. Main dishes may include pumpkin seed-dusted scallops served over creamy polenta, topped with a fennel onion confit. Slow-cooked duck leg confit with duck ragù and smoked duck breast is a study in variations on a theme. For dessert, perhaps the maple crème brûlée with ginger and brown sugar or the chocolate torte will be on the menu, if you're lucky. The wine-by-the-glass list offers enough variety to have something for every dish, while the beers feature Bar Harbor brews.
