THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Mack Daddy?s Restaurant Review

: This shrine to good-food-that’s-good-for-you is owned by physical fitness guru Mack Newton, the former conditioning coach of the Chicago Cubs, the Oakland A’s, and many pro athletes. There are about two-dozen seats, but the main idea is take-out. The “3-2” plan, as it’s called, is based on three things you can eat (fresh, lean protein, green vegetables and fresh fruit) and two things you can drink (water and juice). There’s no salt, sugar or white flour, but once personal health goals are met, diners can add vegetables of any color, plus moderate servings of potatoes, rice, dessert, and one alcoholic beverage per day. No sacrifice however: Seasonings are ample, boosting the taste value of dishes like grilled salmon (jazzy under spicy Creole rub and a delightful mango-sesame salsa spiked with lots of cilantro and hot chile peppers). Other choices include shrimp and scallops over Asian eggplant and braised baby bok choy, and rib-eye wrapped in grilled collard greens.
