This reincarnation of the legendary Santa Monica eatery doesn't live up to its big reputation, and the dining room is not particularly impressive. The usual old-fashioned favorites (sweet-and-sour chicken, Mongolian beef, walnut shrimp) are offered, plus sushi. Dim sum is served on weekends.

THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Madame Wu's Asian Bistro & Sushi Restaurant Review:
This corporate reincarnation of the Santa Monica eatery doesn't live up to the sweet memories of the legendary haunt, but it's a decent place for old-fashioned, Sino-American dishes (sweet-and-sour chicken, Mongolian beef, walnut shrimp, orange peel beef) after shopping or a movie. Once past the grand entrance, the second floor dining room is a bit of a letdown, its primary attraction being a cluster of colorfully-hued lanterns. A mezzanine level overlooks the theater complex lobby and a handsome balcony provides a view of the always-bustling grounds at The Grove. The food is generally passable but hardly memorable---your neighborhood take-out joint may even match the quality of most items. There's also a sushi bar adjoining the lounge and dim sum---this is reputedly the westernmost point in L.A. to find this specialty---is offered during the day on weekends.
