| Owner/chef Dave Anderson, formerly of healthful dining venues Inn of the Seventh Ray and Real Food Daily, has created a charming bistro that shatters many of the myths associated with vegetarian and vegan cuisine. The signature beet tartare placed in front of you is as artfully plated as the beef in a Parisian bistro, layered over a tofu cheese crouton and cucumbers with balsamic reduction and herb-infused oil. Seitan (wheat gluten) stands in for the normal basis to fried chicken, and bulgur for beef in Anderson’s healthy homage to the Big Mac. Desserts might include cheesecake with raspberry coulis and toasted almonds. Guests can also opt for the four-course menu ($40), featuring soup plus choice of salad, savory dish and dessert. This storefront eatery is casual, but offers candlelit tables draped in white linen. |
