Run by a brother-and-sister team who hail from Georgia, Magnolias on the Park's menu is notable for a Southern slant not often seen in Albany. Appetizer standouts include meaty Charleston blue-crab cakes served with a caper-lemon rémoulade, crispy coconut shrimp accompanied by a tangy-sweet mango chutney and, of course, hush puppies. The coal-grilled steak and seafood entrées are simple and satisfying; however, you don't want to overlook the pulled pork, or especially the creamsicle chicken, which comes smothered in a creamy apricot sauce with a little bit of a kick. The fried chicken is done just right---crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. The traditional Southern side dishes are worth a special mention, with savory black-eyed peas, fluffy herbed rice and buttery collard greens most distinguished.
