Maiella Restaurant Review:

As if solid Italian cuisine weren’t enough of a draw to this up-and-coming area of Long Island City, Rocco Sacramone’s (Trattoria L’incontro) rustic restaurant is steps away from some of the most striking views of Manhattan. A circular bar with a tower of bottles is as enticing for dining as the many window-side tables, with knowledgeable bartenders creating craft cocktails (try the refreshing strawberry and fig-based Maiella) as well as serving the restaurant’s expansive menu. In warmer weather, outdoor seating overlooks Gantry State Park, home to the city’s iconic Pepsi sign. Reflective of the place’s Queens Italian heritage, dishes like clam and oyster cocktails meld nicely with more elaborate, fresh fare. The menu features crudo and pizzas in addition to risottos, meats and seafood. The wine list skews Italian.
