Maiko Sushi Restaurant Review: The dining room at this sushi eatery boasts a décor that transports patrons on a gastronomic journey to the heart of Japan. Menus offer a wide selection of sushi and sashimi as well as tempura and grilled dishes, such as rack of lamb misted with the savory house sauce. But check out the chef's specials: the Sambuca scallop sushi is a standout as is the foie gras maki. The carefully prepared rice is key to the successful rolls. On very busy days, which are not rare, service can be a tad slow but the waitstaff is friendly and accommodating. It is worth the wait, not only for the food but for the beauty of the plating inspired by the principles of Zen, interpreted to please the eye as well as the palate. |
