 Maker's Mark Bourbon House & Lounge Restaurant Review: Maker's Mark is the bourbon with the distinctive red wax-coated bottle neck. The same eye-popping red dominates the walls and the furniture in the cacophonous restaurant, which also features a dramatically back-lit amber wall showcasing glass shelves lined with some 80 bourbons and scores more spirits. Dishes are made to be paired with bourbon, so you'll find sautéed mussels finished with bourbon, beef carpaccio served with bourbon rémoulade, and bourbon used in salad dressings, including the house ranch and vinaigrette. Among the entrées are braised short ribs with honey bourbon barbecue sauce, and grilled salmon brushed with olive oil and, yes, bourbon. With bourbon being so strongly featured, the wine and brews lists take back seats, although there are a few locally brewed crafters available. For dessert, have the house take on bananas Foster --- Bananas Maker's, which substitutes bourbon for rum. The restaurant is part of the Fourth Street Live! entertainment development and is also a stop on Louisville's Urban Bourbon Trail. |
