THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Maltese Restaurant Review:

As the name suggests, this casually sophisticated restaurant owes its inspiration to Malta, the tiny republic in the middle of the Mediterranean that has been a crossroads of civilization for millennia. Maltese marks a significant step forward for Mission Hills, a wealthy older neighborhood that long has needed to revitalize its somnolent commercial core. The menu refers to the appetizers as tapas and offers grilled skewers of herb-marinated lamb, chicken, shrimp and vegetables, along with roasted apple-chicken liver pâté, and mussels in a very complicated cream sauce. There are grilled lamb and smoked salmon pizzas, fettuccine in a citrus-spiked tomato sauce enriched with herbed sausage, a citrus-steak salad and piquant, Moroccan lemon chicken, and we confess that we like them all.
