Mama Shelter Restaurant Review:

This lively brasserie is furnished with sofas, seats of all sizes and tables leading guests to a very chic bar, amazingly decorated with “tables d’hôte” and painted armchairs. The ceilings are low, but this feature contributes to the general atmosphere. From the terrace one can glance at the old railroad tracks evocative of Marcel Carné’s pictures. More than a hotel restaurant, this is the kind of place where one can share a moment of hospitality and tranquility with other guests. Chef Guy Savoy presides over the kitchen of the establishment. He treats patrons to signature dishes such as the saucisson de Lyon with pistachio and brioche and the bread-crumbed tuna with tonkatsu sauce. Green lentils salad with soft-boiled egg as well as the hearty Black Angus flank steak with homemade french fries and pepper sauce are also a sure bet. Match the fare with a cocktail, like the Hemingway daiquiri with rum, lime and grapefruit, or a glass of 2013 Côtes-du-Rhône Châteauneuf du Pape La Présidente. For dessert, indulge with the XL version of the Paris-Brest, a pastry stuffed with praline cream and sprinkled with almonds. This unusual hotel and its restaurant with a totally original, modern and glamorous decoration is the best realization of Philippe Starck to date. À la carte, around €40.
