Opened in July 2001, the New York branch of the Parisian hit is humming along. The stable of celeb investors (Sean Penn, John Malkovich, Johnny Depp, Mick Hucknall) ensures that events such as the restaurant’s first-year anniversary party attracts some A-list power such Mike Myers, Ed Norton, Adam Sandler, Jack Nicholson, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and Adrien Brody. Though the interior is Forbidden City luxury, the menu is more French than fusion these days. A selection of sushi is also available. But chances are you’ll come to lounge and lap up cocktails like the rum lemonade, a mix of rum, apple and peach liqueur, sugar and guava juice.
