THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Mangia Restaurant Review:
The location is reason enough to stop by this venue. It's right across the street from the Beach Theater, the only independent art film house in the county, so after a tasty French farce or Spanish melodrama, this restaurant offers basic fare at reasonable prices: sandwiches, salads, soups and a limited list of entrées. But there are a couple of menu surprises. One is an array of international tapas, from lobster spring roll to pan-seared scallops with tomato and basil, from yellow fin tuna with watermelon salsa to steak tartare with wild mushrooms---all ideal for a pre-flick snack or a light meal for a post-film dissection. And the dessert choices are also more than might be expected---Italian rum cake, peanut butter pie, tiramisu, even a white chocolate mousse.
