THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Maple Restaurant Review:

Patina Restaurant Group's Maple serves brunch at Descanso Gardens Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The swank menu ups the brunch game with epicurean touches to the classics --- huevos rancheros is topped with guajillo-braised short rib and has a side of potato fennel hash; ubiquitous avocado toast becomes more ethereal with thin sliced radish and preserved lemon aïoli; a fine smoked salmon bagel is elevated with crispy capers and foraged-herb cream cheese. If there’s a true destination dish it’s the entirely seductive fried chicken and beignets --- you may even swear you are at Café du Monde in the French Quarter. And oh yes, there are cocktails, from a demure sparkler with rosé and lavender syrup to the gigantic tomatillo Bloody Mary that could be brunch in and of itself. You don’t have to buy admission to the gardens to dine; the airy, charmingly repurposed craftsman cottage (formerly host to gardening classes) has its own entrance, with an enclosed indoor patio and sunny walled garden seating beneath white market umbrellas. Maple offers seasonal holiday dinner service, and the restaurant will also host guest chefs from other Patina LA restaurants for special pop-up dinners. (Check the Descanso website for events.) After indulging, you can walk off some calories in the ever beautiful gardens.
