THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED March Restaurant Restaurant Review:

Chef/co-owner Wayne Nish's distinctive contemporary American food has risen to new levels of sophistication and is offered via four- to seven-course tasting menus (starting at $68). Appetizers---though Nish encourages diners to abandon the traditional appetizer-entrée construct and order small dishes in any order---might include such Asian-inspired dishes as simple slices of hirame sashimi with olive oil and white soy sauce, or fusion dishes like foie gras terrine flavored with garam masala. The wine list, overseen by co-owner Joseph Scalice, is one of the best in town and offers many hard-to-find bottles from excellent boutique wineries. The front lounge area, with banquettes upholstered in Walter Gropius fabric from Clarence House, features a small-bites menu as well as desserts from the regular dinner menu. When the weather's fine, you can eat al fresco on the rooftop terrace or the mezzanine-level patio.
