Mare Bello Restaurant Review: Mare Bello's dining room has ample windows affording a generous view of the sea; white tablecloths grace the simple wood tables. The well-conceived Northern Italian menu offers appetizers such as medaglioni all aragosta, medallions of lobster in a Grand Marnier sauce, and creamy polenta topped with filet mignon and Gorgonzola sauce. The antipasto freddo, an array of cold appetizers including buffalo mozzarella, vine-ripened tomato, prosciutto, Parmigiano, dry sausage, sun-dried tomatoes and roasted peppers, is ideal for sharing. We also recommend the scalloppini cappricciosa, breaded veal topped with arugula, diced tomato and onion. For those opting for lighter fare, the pollo balsamica, a chicken breast cutlet, pan-seared in fresh herbs, garlic, port wine and a balsamic sauce, is appropriate. Desserts are comprised of American and Italian classics like cheesecake and tiramisu. The wine list featuring regional selections pairs well with the menu.
