THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Mare Culinary Lounge Restaurant Review:

Nestled in (of all places) the Holiday Inn off of Coast Highway in Laguna Beach, Mare Culinary Lounge uses a dark yet lively interior --- with randomly projected movies --- to create a space that could convey an L.A. vibe but actually has local sensibilities. While the atmosphere and cocktails beckon the late-night crowd, the star of the show is the Italian cuisine from owner-executive chef Alessandro Pirozzi (Cucina Alessa, Pirozzi Corona del Mar). Starters include the palate-opening orange sweet pepper stuffed with goat cheese and a burrata-topped meatball slider. Continue with the handmade pastas, most notably the limoncello-infused mafaldine served with lobster tail, shallots and a Pinot Grigio and lemon sauce. Classic desserts like tiramisu round out the experience. Early birds can wake from their slumber, hang out in the hotel courtyard and indulge in a range of breakfast dishes, including a wide list of savory frittatas.
