THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Maria's Front Room Restaurant Review:
No longer the dripping candle-checked tablecloth sort of place it had been for years, this worthy little spot has stepped up a notch in décor with white linens and fresh flowers while retaining the warm welcome and a menu of solid Italian dishes. The regular menu is augmented by daily specials that have a contemporary spin and go well beyond the expected line-up of favorites. Veal has always been a specialty, and it is a better bet than the pastas. Thin-crusted pizzas are first-rate, as are such appetizers as spiedini, the cheesy, lemony layered bread. Maria's serves sangría and three acceptable house wines: red, white and blush. With just 15 tables, it offers a cozy, romantic setting and friendly service.
