Marigold Kitchen Restaurant Review: Marigold Kitchen inhabits an elegant townhouse on leafy 45th Street in University City. Chef Robert Halpern has sold the restaurant to chefs Andrew Kochan and Tim Lanza, who both worked in the kitchen under Halpern. Keith Krajewski remains executive chef. The focus is on eclectic American cuisine fashioned with locally sourced ingredients and a dash of snazzy molecular gastronomy. The 14-course tasting menu ($90) might feature dishes like “Foie Gras, Lettuce and Tomato”; an interpretation of eggs Benedict that utilizes spherification; and duck maki with black garlic-orange purée and dashi gelée. Each plate is artfully composed with as much attention paid to details of color and texture as to the marriage of inventive flavors. BYO.
