THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Mario's II Restaurant Review: It's always good to know where to find wonderfully prepared Italian food that is reasonably priced and professionally served in elegant yet simple surroundings. One of the best places for Italian cuisine outside the city's Franklin Avenue Italian district is Mario's II. The restaurant is hidden away at the Rolling Greens Golf Course and is open to golfers and non-golfers alike. If you've never had a mushroom melt in your mouth, you're in for a treat if you start with the Portobello Alla Casa. The hot antipasto starter, however, enables you to sample a variety of delights, from enormous mussels to light, crispy calamari. The extensive menu of pasta dishes, chicken, veal, beef and seafood is augmented by daily specials. Whether it is something as simple as ravioli in a fresh tomato sauce or as elaborate as Filet Mignon Alla Luigi topped with spinach, roasted peppers, oyster mushrooms and buffalo mozzarella, the kitchen delivers consistently fine fare, and the service is always exemplary. Saving room for dessert is a feat and if you can't possibly consume the surprisingly light tiramisu, be sure to order one of Mario's rich and not-too-sweet cannolis to-go.
