After 30 years in the Palm Springs area, owners Mario and Edalyn Lalli have moved their festive eatery to Pasadena, occupying a space adjacent to the historic Pasadena Playhouse, where better restaurants have failed. Mario's is a fun pre- or post-show venue where some reasonably good Italian cuisine is served up while operatic singers perform arias as they meander through the room. A rustic dining room with a wood-beamed ceiling and red linen-clad tables provides the backdrop for a menu of traditional Italian cooking, including lasagna, osso buco and eggplant Parmigiana.
