Mario's Peruvian Seafood Restaurant Review:

When Pizarro landed in Peru in the sixteenth century looking for gold, he found potatoes instead. This plain, brightly lit restaurant has elevated the Inca staple in dishes like huanacaina (egg and potato salad), but Mario's is really about seafood. Start with a ceviche served with boiled potatoes. Chaufa is the Peruvian take on Chinese fried rice; it’s best at Mario’s with shrimp. Pescado a la Chorrillana---fried snapper filet smothered with sautéed onions and tomatoes---is another winner. Just because the restaurant includes “seafood” in the title doesn’t mean that meat-centered dishes aren’t good. Lomo saltado features strips of beef sautéed with onions and tomatoes.
