THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Marshall Restaurant Review:
This Astoria restaurant brings a juicy bite of the Balkans across the Atlantic---specifically from Croatia. You'll find no provincial village trappings or a dated, haphazard collection of regional wall hangings and knick-knacks. The sleek, dimly lit setting is just bright enough to make out the artwork that lines the walls and the vintage wine bottles mounted around the room. So take the plunge into the plush, faux-leather seats and dive into the comprehensive menu that focuses heavily on grilled and roasted meat and fish. Start with sopska salata, a typical Balkan salad: tomato and peppers topped with a salty goat cheese. Then try the veal shank or the tender grilled steak with mushrooms, marinated with pepper and garlic. The grilled calamari is also a nice option, especially when paired with one of the affordable bottles of white wine.
