| This swanky Newport Coast restaurant features several dining areas to enjoy the sweeping ocean views, including cozy romantic corners, impressive window tables and lovely indoor-outdoor courtyard seating. Since this Mastro's outpost features seafood rather than steaks, most guests start with the three-tiered silver platter brimming with your choice of cold foods from the sea, such as crab claws, oysters, lobster, mussels and ahi. When it comes to entrées, don't expect anything elaborate, as most of the fresh fish is cooked au natural, highlighted by its natural flavor, butter or herbs. As for the all-Prime steaks, Mastro's certainly knows how to grill up the most smoky, tender and satisfying beef. Everything on the menu is ordered à la carte, so be sure to request heaping side dishes like steamed asparagus or lobster mashed potatoes. For dessert, target the tart Key lime pie or a huge hunk of New York-style cheesecake. The rather extensive wine list leans on whites, but has plenty of full-bodied reds to pair with the turf part of the menu. |
