THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Matsukado Restaurant Review:
Discretely set on a busy East Village avenue, this diminutive Japanese restaurant with a long menu is a comfortable place to tuck into a big bowl of ramen or soba noodles. Flanked by brick walls (one of which is clad in Japanese graffiti), with booths on one side and a banquette on the other, Matsukado serves up the dishes of edible Japan: several variations on the theme of ramen are highlighted by luscious lobster ramen and a handful of soba and udon dishes like chikari, which is made up of toasted mochi rice cakes, spinach and fish patties. There are also plenty of rice dishes---the barbecued eel over rice is a nice option---and decent but standard sushi.
