Dining room at Matt's in the Market, Seattle, WAIf you’re seeking a quintessential Pacific Northwest restaurant, visit Matt’s in the Market. Hidden on the third floor of the Corner Market building, this stylishly casual place offers inspired, unfussy dishes featuring fresh seafood and produce from the market. Chef Chester Gerl turns out appetizers such as grilled octopus with fingerling potatoes; ahi tartare with shallots, capers and Castelvetrano-basil pesto; and fennel salad with taggiasca olives, ricotta salata, and a caramelized tomato vinaigrette. Entrées include duck confit with sweet onion purée, sautéed pea vines and preserved citrus vinaigrette, as well as Alaskan halibut with a Spanish chorizo-garbanzo bean salad and romesco sauce. Desserts include a chocolate pot de crème. A well-developed international wine list and attentive service add to Matt’s appeal.
