Maui Tacos Restaurant Review: Chef Mark Ellman sold his Avalon Restaurant in Lahaina to expand and franchise the Maui Tacos taco stand-style eateries in conjunction with Blimpies International. The prices have gone up, but the quality is usually good. The Napili burrito is comprised of char-broiled chicken wrapped in freshly made tortillas with rice, black beans, guacamole and sour cream. Other options include fish tacos; a huge vegetarian taco salad; and a sweet and spicy, bountiful mango chicken salad. Choose your own toppings at the salsa bar with fresh cilantro, limes, jalapeños, pickled carrots, Maui onions and five salsas such as smoky chipotle and the more mild pineapple. Egg burritos, chorizo and huevos rancheros are offered for breakfast.
