| Young chef Joel Coleman turns traditional tastes upside-down, sourcing many of his ingredients from the farmers market down the street. Specializing in Euro-Asian flavors, Coleman's seasonal menu might feature entrées like crispy organic tofu with five-spice sweet potato purée and vegetables or a rib-eye steak from River Canyon Ranch with local duck-fat home fries, organic greens and hoisin chili sauce. A nightly fish spontanée dish satisfies seafood fans, with fish flown in straight from Hawaii, Coleman's native land. Don't miss the kaffir lime panna cotta or the blackberry clafouti, both bursting with color and flavor. Mauka is fresh and classy---from its understated, elegant décor to its sophisticated dishes and snappy service. The wine selection is on the small side, but the boutique labels are standouts; Coleman also offers saké and craft beers. |
