Maunakea Marketplace Food Court Restaurant Review:
Located in the center of Honolulu’s fascinating (and slightly seedy) Chinatown district, the Maunakea Marketplace is an ideal destination for an inexpensive, authentic Asian or Hawaiian meal. The food court is short on creature comforts --- narrow tables and stools in a narrow aisle --- but much of the food is cooked fresh and quite exotic. When was the last time you had guisantes (a Filipino stew with pork, peas and a host of other vegetables)? Or larb (an Indonesian dish with browned beef, cilantro, lime and peppers)? There’s everything from sushi to Hong Kong roast duck noodles. Things are so inexpensive you can afford to experiment. Wander through the produce stalls afterwards, or roam outside around the brick courtyard surrounded by shops selling Asian wares under the watchful gaze of Confucius.
