THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Max's Cafe Restaurant Review:

The cheerful non-smoking dining room of Max's Café features a skylight, and the smoking room's centerpiece is an elegant 24-seat oval bar. The café's 3-for-1 frozen drinks and mega-martinis and 2-for-1 beers are legendary, as are its amazingly affordable lunch and dinner items. The complimentary bread basket is pita with hummus. For starters, we like Max's famous lollipop wings seasoned with scallions and sesame seeds; and the warm goat cheese with mixed greens, grilled red onions and pine nuts drizzled with sun-dried tomato vinaigrette. The bourbon barbecue salmon with leaf spinach, sweet potato raviolis and pecan brown butter is a favorite, as is the orecchiette pasta with slow-roasted chicken and mushrooms, caramelized onions and porcini broth. A cup of coffee accompanies desserts such as chocolate-peanut butter mousse and vanilla crème brûlée. Nice touch.
