THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED MC2 Restaurant Review

: Better known for its style than its substance, this revamped restaurant boasts one of the swankiest atmospheres in the city. The sparse, loft-like aesthetic and the booming noise level have been softened a bit by a luminescent screen that domes above the dining room. Young professionals out to see and be seen perch on the blond-wood chairs and cozy up to the popular bar. The drinks are cheap (martinis are $3.50) and Friday evenings sees a DJ kicking the energy level up a notch for the beginning of the weekend. Still, those that stay for dinner might not be as impressed as those that come for happy hour. The French-tapas style menu encourages diners to indulge in many eclectic flavors and offers matched wines with each of the menu items in two-, four- or six-ounce pours. Chef Todd Davies, another aspect of the revamping, still needs to find his footing, as does the less-than-amenable service. Some dishes shine with both expert execution and flavor combinations, while others fall in the category of weird science.
