McCormick & Schmick's Seafood & Steaks Restaurant Review: This chain out of Portland, Oregon, provides a coast-to-coast (plus Hawaii and Alaska) tour of regional seafood dining. Local waters don’t get neglected, either, and Maryland themes punctuate the dining room décor. Inner Harbor views entice patrons to window seats or, in clement weather, the patio. Crab and rockfish are the local stars of a daily menu that offers a bounty of fresh fish and shellfish, everything from grilled Idaho rainbow trout to Asian-style seared ahi with sushi rice to buttermilk-fried shrimp with Chesapeake fries. An oyster bar provides local and far-flung selections. There’s a corporate air about the cooking, but the seafood is exceptionally fresh. As the restaurant’s name suggests, there’s also an emphasis on non-seafood choices, with steaks, chicken and pasta dishes sharing the menu. |
