McCormick's Fish House & Bar Restaurant Review: Seattle natives as well as out-of-town visitors look to McCormick’s Fish House & Bar for a fresh taste of the Pacific Northwest. Located in a restored 1912 building next to contemporary high-rises, this restaurant is one of four Seattle locations of the Portland-based chain. The elegant décor hints of an early twentieth-century men’s club, while the dark woodwork conjures the nautical spirit of an old sailing schooner. No wonder this place is a hangout for the single malt-and-cigar crowd. With seafood as its focus, there's a lengthy fresh sheet listing the day’s catch, from local oysters and fin fish to Maine lobster and Hawaiian albacore. Most available species are good simply grilled with butter and lemon. Otherwise, it's best to choose house specialties, such as clam chowder; oysters breaded and pan-fried for dipping into tangy tartar sauce; petrale sole lightly cloaked in Parmesan and sauced with butter, lemon and capers; or fettuccine with rock shrimp and bay scallops in a garlic cream sauce. Happy hour is a deal-and-a-half, and attracts faithful imbibers without fail. |
