Hotel dining rooms often get a bad rap for being stuffy and dull. Generically upscale McGrath's looks as though it won’t be any different---until you open the menu. Southwestern flourishes abound on the contemporary menu, which ranges from simple pleasures like fresh tostadas with funky house-made salsas---habanero, grilled pineapple---to elegant entrées such as pan-seared striped bass with prickly pear succotash and cilantro crème fraîche. Pastas are especially intriguing (try linguine with seared salmon, caramelized fennel and shiitakes on for size). The Sunday brunch, meanwhile, is a grand affair, with several types of fresh seafood, as well as omelets and Belgian waffles made to order.
