McLadden's Irish Publick House Restaurant Review: If it’s Irish you want, it’s McLadden’s Irish Publick House in West Hartford Center where you should be headed. The quaint, warm pub-like setting is reminiscent of a Dublin tavern, complete with Irish food, the best of its brews and the mandatory game of darts. Partners Curt Gemme, Michael Ladden and Dino Ricciardone have put their best Irish forward when it comes to décor that includes a Guinness harp, Irish blessings and curses painted on the walls, and an assortment of kitschy signs that add Irish personality to the watering hole. The menu can more than hold its own against the “Perfect Pour” tap system that delivers mugs of more than 140 American and Irish beers, including Murphy’s, Kilkenny and Pabst. Featured menu items include Smithwick’s marinated wings made with Irish whisky and beer, bangers and mash, and Guinness lamb stew, and American offerings like the foot-long lobster roll and mac ‘n’ cheese. There are daily chalkboard specials, a special late-night menu, and a weekend brunch featuring fried eggs, rashers and Irish baked beans. |
