Medici Restaurant Review: With an aesthetic sense drawn from a modern Milanese eatery, the dining room for the Renaissance Waverly Hotel has morphed into a fine dining Italian restaurant. Medici is ideal for a quiet dinner before or after a performance at the nearby Cobb Energy Center. Chef Maximilian Valeruz works hard to get the culinary accent right. Dine lightly with a salad or fine soup or substantially on either a steak seasoned with a "Tuscan rub" mixture or good seafood. Pasta is decent, except for risotto, which may be mushy. Either the fritto misto or grilled vegetable appetizer produces enough for four to share or to make a light main dish with a soup. Desserts have seen major improvement. From the wine list, the Argyle (Oregon) Pinot Noir does wonders with the sea bass. |
