Mediterraneo Restaurant Review: Tune out the sights and sounds of cars zooming along Greenwich Avenue and just taste the cuisine at Mediterraneo. Your palate will be convinced that it's dining along the Greek, Italian or Moroccan coast. Authentic nautical décor is seen in a highly polished planked floor and bar top, and coiled lines hanging from the ends of the banquettes. Cross-the-Ionian Sea delicacies include a pan-roasted bronzino on a bed of couscous flavored with star anise broth, orange peel and basil pesto. Pizza with tomato sauce, Italian sausage, hot cherry peppers and Vidalia onions, and spaghetti with veal meatballs and fresh basil recall flavors from the Italian peninsula. The menu also pays homage to seasonal and Mediterranean flavors with appetizers like grilled calamari with shaved fennel, radish, cherry tomato, lemon and olive oil, as well as a lump crab meat salad with diced avocado, green chickpeas, ginger vinaigrette and a spicy kick courtesy of smoked paprika. If you don't have a yacht, set sail for Mediterraneo. You can even eat on the afterdeck --- sorry mate, we mean the outside patio. Service is professional.
