Mediterraneo Restaurant Review: If you ignore the sights and sounds of cars zooming along Greenwich Avenue and just taste the cuisine at Mediterraneo, your palate will be convinced that it's dining along the Greek, Italian or Moroccan coast. Authentic nautical décor is seen in a highly polished planked floor and bar top, and coiled lines hanging from the ends of the banquettes. Cross-the-Ionian Sea delicacies include grilled marinated lamb kebab and kofte with spiced rice and mint yogurt. Whole-wheat pasta with summer vegetables, mushrooms, basil pesto and Parmesan, and a pizza with sliced tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, prosciutto di Parma and baby arugula recall flavors from the Italian peninsula. The menu also pays homage to the warm waters of the Mediterranean Sea itself, with appetizers like lobster and corn bisque and a crudo of yellowfin tuna, sesame seaweed, orange, radish and wasabi. If you don't have a yacht, set sail for Mediterraneo. You can even eat on the afterdeck --- sorry mate, we mean the outside patio. Service is professional. |
