Mediterraneo Restaurant Review: You may be in the distant L.A. suburb of Westlake Village, but this agreeable hotel restaurant provides a satisfying Mediterranean experience. In the evening, diners might begin with panzanella salad, grilled calamari with mustard vinaigrette, or traditional arancini (cheese-filled crispy rice balls) before moving on to pastas, then steaks or Moroccan-spiced lamb chops finished in the wood-burning oven. Finales include panettone bread pudding and an apple-cranberry crisp. Prix-fixe three-course menus are very attractively priced, and a reasonable wine list offers worthy candidates from Italy, California and around the world. Breakfast items range from classic eggs Benedict to a “Go Green” frittata. The dining room is a handsome, comfortable space with a large fireplace and lakeside views, suitable for a variety of occasions.
