While the brews rule at Meehan's, the place also offers a deep list of splendid single malt Scotch and Irish whiskeys. Huge sandwiches as well as classic main dishes such as bangers and mash and Irish breakfast are served all day. The fish ā€˜n’ chips fish is lightly battered and not at all greasy. The menu rotates every six months, but always includes shepherd's pie (albeit made with beef) and Food 101's famous meatloaf, as that restaurant is a sister institution. After that the menu goes international, with everything from nachos to burgers. Desserts are few, but include a warm house-made chocolate soda bread pudding. The family Fido is welcome on the patio if well behaved. At this family-focused establishment, children are welcomed until 9 p.m.; after that, one must be 21 to enter unless accompanied by a parent. Other locations include 227 Sandy Springs Pl., 404-843-8058; and downtown at 180 Peachtree St. NW, 404-214-9821.
