THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Mekong Restaurant Review:
Situated on the corner of King Street and Sixth Avenue, this long-standing Vietnamese restaurant offers a handsome tavern-like interior of wooden tables and exposed brick walls. While the name of the restaurant evokes the far southern section of Vietnam---the Mekong Delta---the menu is more of a greatest hits of the cuisine: there’s a banh mi sandwich, crispy and fresh spring rolls, pho, pork chop with broken rice, and even a pad thai. But it’s the less seen dishes that shine here: the spicy calamari, stir-fried with pineapple, tomato and basil; the iron-pot curry chicken, bold and fresh; the tender stewed pork belly with eggplant. It’s not all a taste of the Mekong Delta, but it tastes good nonetheless.
