THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Melograno Restaurant Review

: THIS ESTABLISHMENT IS CHANGING LOCATIONS A small pomegranate, the namesake fruit of this restaurant, sits in the middle of each table. Moorish lamps hang below exposed beams and ducts in the high-ceilinged, long and narrow main dining room. There's also patio seating and a few stools at a very old wood bar at the rear of the split level main room. We like the semi-circular booth at the front, which offers comfort and privacy for a group, but the mocha leather banquette stretching the length of one wall offers equally comfortable seating. Chef Alberto Lazzarino (formerly of Cheebo and Il Moro) focuses on Piemontese cuisine, a lighter style from the north, and sources organic ingredients, local when possible, and wild-caught seafood. Soups, including one of organic heirloom baby carrots and wild oyster mushrooms, change daily and are dairy-free. Pastas and main courses, from homemade potato and nettle dumplings to pan-roasted halibut with mushrooms, showcase the lighter style of Italy's north. And the chef sometimes uses Meyer lemons from his own tree for a tart with mascarpone and organic strawberries. Sommelier Giuseppe Cossu's wine list skews almost 100 percent Italian, with the exception of a few bottles of French bubbly.
