Apple Restaurant Review:

Looking like something straight out of colonial-era Vietnam, this Vietnamese and pan-Asian eatery is a favorite for NYU students who take advantage of the good lunch specials (huge portions for under $10) as well as locals with a need to get their curry fix. The Vietnamese beef stew, laced with a few potato and carrot chunks, is as hearty as it sounds (though lacks Asian flavors). The vegetarian casserole is packed with three kinds of mushrooms, ginger and tofu, and served in a hot pot; even carnivores would dive in and enjoy every bite. The eatery’s signature dish, boneless duck, is a crispy broiled, spice-encrusted bird wading in a pool of plum sauce. It’s one of the most expensive items on the menu (at $19), but will inspire a return visit. If that’s not enough, the expansive room is a feast for the eyes: fans hang from the soaring ceilings and purple and blue lights give the room a chic vibe.
