The Back Abbey Restaurant Review:

Occupying a prime spot in lively Claremont Village, this gastropub serves a massive selection of Belgian beers and one of the top burgers you’ll find east of Father’s Office. Ensconced in a 100-year-old ice warehouse, the place has a vague resemblance to a Belgian abbey. In good weather, a bamboo-delineated patio provides a less austere ambience. For the signature burger, the kitchen stuffs a hefty patty with a generous amount of caramelized onions, aïoli and bacon, and the Red Monk features cranberry-apple chutney, feta and cranberry aïoli. The burgers’ dry-aged Prime beef bodes well for the bone-in rib-eye, though that seems extravagant for a gastropub. Better to opt for the tenderloin beef sandwich with onions and a blue cheese-infused crème fraîche, pork schnitzel or pot of Belgian steamed mussels served with bread to mop up the fragrant, garlicky broth. Even salad lovers have something to enjoy, a version of a classic salade lyonnaise. There are also soft pretzels, easily paired with a cold Moinette Blonde beer from Belgium. For dessert, there’s a nifty deconstructed cheesecake or beignets drizzled with chocolate sauce. Don’t call for reservations --- they’re not accepted and nobody will even answer the phone.
