Bartolotta's Lake Park Bistro Restaurant Review:

About the restaurant: Only the Bartolotta family, who are legendary in the Milwaukee dining scene, would dare to create a quintessential French restaurant in the middle of a park. Overlooking Lake Michigan in a former pavilion, the restaurant features a menu of bistro classics and more elaborate specialties orchestrated by chef Adam Siegel.

About the food & drinks: Begin with traditional escargots, beef tartare or French onion soup. Entrées include veal tenderloin with root vegetables, leek compote and tarragon; roasted aged duck breast and slow-cooked leg with green lentils, Swiss chard and red wine sauce; and Dover sole, served with French beans and oyster mushrooms-accented potatoes (it's filleted tableside). In the typical French manner, a different plat du jour is offered every day of the week. For dessert, indulge in the Valrhona chocolate mousse in a praline crust with vanilla orange ice cream. The elaborate Sunday brunch is a local favorite --- for good reason. Fare ranges from light (basket of croissants with preserves and salade a la niçoise are just two of the examples) to heavy (cassoulet). Pair your meal with one of hundreds of French wines.
