CaCao Mexicatessen Restaurant Review:

This eatery in Eagle Rock, with its backdrop of warm terra cotta colors and lucha libre wrestling memorabilia, offers an eat-in or take-out dining experience, as well as signature hot chocolate with a hint of chile. Breakfast burritos, tres leches pancakes and a spicy Benedict are good ways to begin the day. Tacos come with interesting ingredients like fried avocado, kalbi-style Korean BBQ short rib and sea urchin, as well as Yucatán-style cochinita pibil. The fish tacos and fries bathed in mole are worth checking out, too, and the vegetarian fare is quite enticing, even if you don’t normally roll that way. Despite being a quick-service place, CaCao has a more compelling menu than most Mexican restaurants in L.A. In addition, the restaurant’s bar specializes in wines from Baja and local craft beers.
